FAQs

General Questions:

We are located in West-Central Indiana, in the Midwest of America.  Our in-home breeding business is a 1 hour drive directly west of Indianapolis.

Our “Heritage Creek” name was chosen because of the creek that runs through our wooded property and feeds into a large lake.  Willow and Sage’s favorite daily event is hiking through the woods to swim in the creek.  It’s where our kids play, the dogs chase each other while swimming and where many happy memories are made as a family.

We also want to raise a “Heritage” breed of labs that produces an amazing bloodline of beloved Labradors.  Our dogs are always happy, friendly, obedient and truly a delight!

Our names are Brock and Stefanie Childs.  We are a family of 5, which includes our charming son Rhett who is 11 years old and our beautiful 9 year old fraternal twin girls, named Hazel and Emmaline.  We were born and raised in the central Indiana area, and will continue to raise our family here.

We’ve raised several Labs over our 19 years of marriage.  They are simply the BEST companions!  Because our Mama dogs and their pups live in our home, they are smothered in as much love as possible.  We also homeschool our kids and work from home most days, so our adult dogs have full reign of our house, and are involved in our daily routine.  This has created such a loving and intentional process for our entire family.  Raising our puppies is a part of our “School” day with our kids.

Because they simply ARE!  Ha!  We are hobby breeders birthed out of the enthrallment of this sweet breed. From the stunning broad head, barrel chest, stocky body, and otter tail to the unrivaled, calm temperament we couldn’t help but fall in love.  Labs are trustworthy with any age group, they’re unconditionally loyal to their owner, are big babies who enjoy cuddling, and they simply want to be included in whatever their owners are doing around the home.  The mix of English and American Labradors have endless endearing characteristics.  The Labrador Retriever has been the no. 1 selling breed for the last 30 years according to the AKC.

Investment for Puppies:

Our pure bred Labrador puppies are an investment of $1250.  We require a 50% NON-refundable reservation deposit to “Hold” one of our pups until the 8 week mark when they are old enough to go to their forever home.

Our new puppy package includes your new furry best friend, all standard vaccines for the first 2 months, de-wormer, American Kennal Club “AKC” registration certificate with pedigree info, a well puppy visit with our local veterinarian and paperwork that includes a birth certificate and wellness records.

We have an application process to ensure our pups are going to the most loving forever home possible.

Our puppies become litter trained with cedar chips around 4 weeks, they will become weaned with healthy food options around 6 weeks, and will be used to regular noise from kids, by the time they are ready to move to their new forever homes.  We will also provide you with a list of tips and future wellness info.  These things help the transition process from our home to yours.

We breed with integrity to ensure that all of our Labradors fall within the highest American Kennel Club “AKC”.  This registration gives us access to the full blood line, which ensures health through previous generations.  Knowing that these parents are the best of the best when it comes to temperament, appearance and health, ensures amazing pups for future families.

Our breeding focus of quality over quantity is of upmost importance to us.  We only breed each of our Mama dogs 1 time per year, allowing for 2 litters total.

We offer phone calls and video Zoom calls for potential adoptive families.  We don’t allow in person visits for the first 6 weeks, to protect the health and wellness of our puppies until they are fully vaccinated and past their tiny newborn stage.  Message us to set up a video or phone call!

We offer a delivery option for central Indiana families, where we can bring your new puppy to your home when they turn 8 weeks.  For out of town families, we can arrange a pick up/meeting location option.

Breeding Info:

Our Lab breeding focus is quality over quantity. We produce only two litters each year, 1 from each of our 2 Mamas.  This ensures perfect health for our Mothers and pups. We strive to raise only exceptional pure-bred Labrador Retriever pups that are AKC registered and from ethical and responsible breeding practices.

We are currently breeding our 2 Mama Labs with our dear friend’s pure-bred Yellow Lab.  Knowing that these parents are the best of the best when it comes to temperament, appearance and health, ensures amazing pups for future families.

We have access to the full blood line of all 3 dogs, through our AKC registry, which ensures health through previous family trees.

Meet “Dexter” on our Labs + Litters” Page.

We will produce Yellow, Chocolate and Black Labrador pups.

Our current 2 pure bred Mamas are a Chocolate named Sage {Pictured above at 9 weeks} and a Yellow named Willow {Pictured to the left at 8 weeks}.  Our friends own the Yellow Lab that we are using as a stud.  His name is Dexter, he is 4 years old, and he has an almost white fur coat.

We will be breeding Sage with another Chocolate Stud in early 2025 to produce full Chocolate pups.

Genetics are wild and we will have a mixture of many colors in the coming years.

Sage X Dexter = Black Pups
Willow X Dexter = Yellow + Black Pups
Sage X a Chocolate Stud = Chocolate Pups

We strive to breed only the most exceptional parents, to create healthy, friendly and enjoyable Labrador pups.  Having access to bloodlines and their breeders through the AKC registry, allows for this.  Hip dysplasia, chronic diseases and poor breeding practices aren’t allowed as an AKC breeder.  We also give all suggested vaccines, take our pups to our local Veterinarian for a full well check, all pups are on a healthy diet of Mama’s milk and quality puppy food, and each is de-wormed.  All pups are socialized within our home, family and our kids since birth.  This creates and amazing temperament, loyalty, trustworthiness with kids and a gentle spirit.

We DO NOT offer a tangible “Health Guarantee” as part of our contract.   We know that our puppies are given the best start to life possible and responsibly bred.  Once they leave our care, it is the sole responsibility of the new forever family to ensure the best health possible for the future.

Most of health is found in the way they are cared for emotionally, physically and mentally.  Emotional wellness is grown through respect, intentional love and constant daily affection.  Next, is how they are cared for physically through daily walks, playtime, cuddling and gentle conversation.  Dogs need to be walked at least 1 time daily or be given plenty of outside time.  They enjoy learning to play fetch, are easily trained, LOVE to swim and they want to know they are cherished by owners.  Lastly, food is like medicine and creates preventative health.  We can recommend great food and supplements to longevity!
